Chorizo and Sauerkraut

IMG_0781We made this for Shabbat dinner and it was wonderful:

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds (2 packagew) of gluten free Spicy Chorizo, cut in ½ inch pieces (we recommend buying it from Grow and Behold)
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 5 Tbsp Canola Oil  
  • 1  tsp Chili Pwder
  • 2 large jars (28oz) REAL sauerkraut, drained (we like Bubbie’s)

Prepare all the ingredients

Place the Oil in a Large Wok, Dutch Oven or very large skillet and heat on medium high for 1 minute. Add Onions and Chili Powder and and cook for 3-5 minutes until almost translucent.  Remove Onions into a bowl and add oil.   Cook the Chorizo on high until browned on all sides.  Add onions and the drained saurkraut and cook on low heat  for 20  minutes

Enjoy.

Edited 5/13 to remove the sugar. It’s delicious without the sugar so why include it?
